Longtime State Rep. Hy Kloc has endorsed Rob Mason to take his place in the Idaho State Legislature. Kloc is retiring after three terms in the State House where he was a staunch advocate for early childhood education and protecting the rights of Idaho’s refugee population.

“I am proud that someone like Rob Mason will represent the people of District 16 in the Idaho House of Representatives. We need strong leaders who want to invest in education so every Idahoan – no matter where they live – will have a fair shot at success.” Kloc said. “Rob is also an expert when it comes to preserving access to our public lands. We need someone with his kind of know-how and values to represent the people of our District.”

Mason, who works for the Wilderness Society, has been instrumental in protecting the Boulder-White Clouds Wilderness and stewarding the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness and Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness. He is also a staunch advocate for investments in local public spaces in District 16 and serves as vice-president of the Sunset Neighborhood Association.

“Filling Representative Kloc’s shoes will not be easy, but I feel that I am up for the task.  I've spent the last decade bringing Idahoans of all stripes together to get things done, including protecting our public lands and improving our neighborhoods,” Mason said. “The people of District 16 have put their trust in Hy Kloc for six years and I hope to serve them for many years to come.”
