Boise – Tom Kealey, a Republican candidate for State Treasurer, has filed campaign disclosure paperwork showing his campaign has raised nearly $100,000 since its official launch last summer.
The fundraising totals are spelled out in the annual campaign disclosure report filed with the Secretary of State’s office.
“Since announcing my candidacy in July, I’ve traveled across Idaho, meeting, listening and sharing my background with voters. This office has drawn limited attention in the past - but with billions of dollars and investments involved, Idaho voters are starting to take notice,” said Tom Kealey. “There are many great people in our state and I am humbled by the large and broad support the campaign has received so far from fellow Republicans and friends.”
Campaign Treasurer and former State Representative W.W. “Bill” Deal said, “For a first-time candidate, Tom’s fundraising is off to an extremely impressive start. I’m glad to be part of Tom Kealey’s team and his plan to bring new leadership and financial expertise to the Office of the State Treasurer.”
Current State Treasurer Ron Crane has held this position for 5 terms and is not seeking re-election in 2018 making this the first open seat for the Treasurer's Office in twenty years.
“As a lifelong Republican and retired C.P.A., I care deeply about the financial solvency of our government.” Kealey said, “I also believe my leadership skills, and my expertise in investing and financial management will help the Treasurer's Office make sound investments, secure strong credit ratings, and provide trust and transparency in the decision-making process for Idahoans.”
Tom Kealey has worked more than 35 years in the private-sector. He has served as a chief executive, chief financial officer, and in public and private sector investment roles including serving on Idaho's Endowment Fund Investment Board for more than 14 years. Kealey earned his accounting and finance undergraduate degree at the University of Washington. He received a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School. He is a retired C.P.A. Tom and his wife Joy have been married for almost 40 years and raised three sons in Idaho. Together they own the Chicago Connection Restaurant Group in Idaho. In his free time, he enjoys bird hunting, skiing, golf and vacationing all across Idaho.
