(BOISE) – The Idaho Department of Lands (IDL) has initiated negotiated rulemaking for IDAPA 20.01.04, Rules Pertaining to Forest Fire Protection, and public meetings are scheduled across the state in October and November for public participation in person or by phone.

The IDL “fire protection rules” aim to lessen the risk of fire starts from forest operations on forest lands in Idaho.

Idaho forest landowners, logging contractors, forest industry representatives, and others who conduct forest operations that require a compliance from IDL are affected by the rules and encouraged to weigh in and participate in the rulemaking process. The IDL administers the rules as part of its responsibility to regulate and minimize fire hazards caused by timber harvesting on state and private forest lands in Idaho.
